Greenpeace have been at it for a long time now. That is, trying to take down APP (Asia Pulp & Paper) from illgeal deforestation in Sumatra. I have been lucky enough to travel Sumatra twice - I am yet to see the Sumatran Tigers or our cuzzies, the Orangutan... but I did explore parts of the amazing rainforests. I am blown away by its beauty each time, hands down - Indonesia is one of my fav countries in the world! BUT there are only 400 of our big Sumatran feline friends left. And this is purely down to the fact that APP are destroying their habitat. Tear.
(Aftermath of APP clearance of Senepis Tiger Sanctury)
Greenpeace's latest campaign is to publicly expose KFC from sourcing their packaging from APP. Giant chicken buckets with chainsaw slogans and Orangutans have been spotted outside Oxford St KFC, people are becoming more aware and APP will eventually have to change thier awful deforestation legislations! Last year Mattel came under scrutiny from using APP as their packaging source for our much beloved Barbie - and success, they cut off their supply with APP! Furthermore... companies like National Geographic even use APP, Go figure?!
Spread the word so when I return to Indo I can still see the tigers. Shani x
